ROSIES PAGE

This page is dedicated to Rosie the cat with five toes who sadly is now no longer with us after losing her life to what is probably the biggest killer of the modern day cat the human being and its modes of transport and its sad lust for speed.

Rosie was our first cat after we came back to the UK on what was our final posting, after years of travelling with the Forces. We had decided that now was the time to get our first cat having had to leave our faithful Red Setter Charm back in England with my father while we lived in Cyprus, alas both father and charm have since gone over the rainbow bridge to what is hoped will be a better world than the one we now live in.

Anyway Rosie, lets tell her story. We picked Rosie up at the RSPCA pound in Newport, Gwent one Saturday afternoon, our attraction to her was the fact that she was a huge bundle of fur and had five toes on one paw, well that was it she came home, that was in 1993. She was then about two years old. Well it was soon found to be that Rosie was a cat who would like to roam about and be what cats should be and that's free, lucky for Rosie that we then lived on the edge of the country and she had access to lot of fields, but that did not stop her from nearly loosing her life yet again to the dreaded human and its poisons. One day Rosie did not come back after her travels and the worst was feared after more that 2 days away she turned up in a dreadful state (the symptoms or details I will not go into) but it was quite plain that she was suffering from some kind of poison, A trip to the vet was needed and sure as day is day she confirmed the worst it was poison, but the good thing was it would not kill her, so after a few days rest Rosie was back to normal and off she went.
Rosie
Soon the day came for our big move back home to Blackpool, so Rosie and Molly who had joined the family made the trip home. After safely arriving in Blackpool both cats where kept in the new house to get use to their surroundings and what fun that was Rosie just could not wait to get out, so after 3 days off she went. Rosie spent the next couple of years enjoying her life wandering the area and was known by all, she would lie on your lap during the winter months, and would not stand any messing from the other four as our family of cats grew.

On the night that Rosie died I attempted to get all the cats in as I do every night, on this night Rosie was not around something I will never forgive myself for as I felt I could have search maybe a bit harder, but that night will now live with me for the rest of my life, having to pick my dear Rosie from the roadside and carry her into the house is something I will never forget, the good thing is she died instantly and did not suffer and we recovered her within minutes thanks to some passing teenagers who had the heart to knock us up.

Rosie is now buried under the earth between the two small apple trees, she loved to sit under during the heat of summer. She will never be forgotten and will live in our memory forever..
